Episode 273 - Harmony H7208 Roy Smeck

Born in 1900, Roy Smeck was called The Wizard of the Strings; from an early age he could play most stringed instruments with ease. By the time Roy was in his 20’s he’d recorded for Edison, and played in one of the earliest “talkies,” a short called His Pastimes. At that point, fame followed young Roy as he performed for presidents and kings. By the time the Harmony H7208 Roy Smeck model guitar was introduced in 1960, his name had been put on the company’s instruments since the 1930s. Although we suspect Roy would never have subjected any of his guitars to the fuzz-addled treatment we used, we hope he’d be happy we remembered him. Enjoy!
