In the 1970s there was an open secret about Fender - their attention to detail had slipped, and their instruments were no longer considered the best quality one could buy for the money. Eager to mix it up and regain some of this past glory, while at the same time competing with the likes of Gibson, the fellas at CBS decided to give semi-hollowbodied guitars another go. Their previous effort, the Coronado, was mediocre, and the Marauder never really made it out of the gate. Thus, in 1976, the Starcaster was born.

Beverages!

Podcasting is thirsty work; it’s crucial that everyone involved stay hydrated. The following fine beverages contributed to the success of this episode: Ed had the requisite coffee in hand. He also bought a new masticating juicer. Picture pending... John rocked a massive bottle of Snapple, even though he is still confused as to exactly how a juice can be "gluten free" This week’s beverage intro song clip, performed (mostly) live in-studio was Celebration by Kool and The Gang.
