Episode 202 - The Ibanez 2404 with Mike Squires of Couch Riffs

Where to even start?…We are pleased to welcome Mike Squires of Couch Riffs to the show. If you’ve watched any of Mike’s videos (you have, right?) then you already know he is a formidable musician. Add to that the musicians he surrounds himself with and you get an effective primer on grooving AND having fun. His latest release is #2 Record, available on Bandcamp as a custom-packaged book with a flexidisc in it! Mike has joined us to wonder about double-necked guitars, generally, and the Ibanez 2404 in particular. Our example comes from 1977, the very year Gibson tried to sue the bejeezus out of Ibanez. How’d that work out?… But wait - there’s more! Our pal Dan DeMay over at Spun Loud Effects has been busy. He’s got a brand new fuzz pedal releasing on Friday, and we’re pleased to give you a little taste of what it can do. Buckle up, everybody, and keep your hands inside the carriage.

Beverages!

Podcasting is thirsty work; it’s crucial that everyone involved stay hydrated. The following fine beverages contributed to the success of this episode: Special guest Mike Squires upped the coffee ante for us all. He enjoyed a delicious Crosscut canned ice coffee, a beverage he makes in the beautiful Hudson Valley of New York! This week, Ed created a smoothie instead of juicing with his nuclear blast furnace machine of death. Apparently, he is used to a finer-grained beverage; he almost died to death on the berry particles... John is always a sucker for ginger beer. He enjoys the unique bite of a Cock & Bull from Orca Beverages. Mouth punishment, he calls it.
